Hey Operation Flourish Fam, It's Mental Health Month!

Updated: Jun 16

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I wanted to chat about something super important: taking care of your mind!

The image consists of a green ribbon with the phrase "Mental Health Awareness Month" written on it.
Mental Health Awareness Month

We all know life can be crazy stressful. Between work, relationships, school, social media, and current events, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But just like we wouldn't expect our phones to operate without being recharged, we can't expect ourselves to function at our best without prioritizing our mental health.

This month isn't just about raising awareness, it's about taking action. Here are a few things we can ALL do to prioritize our mental wellbeing:

  • Check in with yourself: How are you really doing? Take some time each day to reflect on your mood, energy levels, and overall well-being.

  • Don't be afraid to ask for help: Whether it's talking to a friend, family member, therapist, or counselor, seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

  • Make self-care a priority: Do things that make you feel good, whether it's taking a relaxing bath, reading a good book, spending time in nature, or getting your sweat on with a workout.

  • Set boundaries: It's okay to say no to things that drain your energy or don't serve you. Your time and mental space are precious!

  • Spread the message: Talk openly about mental health with your friends and followers. You never know who might be struggling in silence, and your openness could inspire them to seek help.

Remember, you are not alone! Millions of people around the world deal with mental health challenges. By prioritizing self-care, talking openly, and supporting each other, we can all create a space where mental health is something we can discuss freely, without shame or stigma.

Here are some resources you might find helpful:

  • The Jed Foundation: [ jed suicide prevention ON The Jed Foundation jedfoundation.org]

  • The Trevor Project: [ the trevor project lgbt youth suicide prevention ON thetrevorproject.org]

Let's make this May a month of mental health awareness and action!

Cheerfully yours,

I find that practicing gratitude is a great way to help my mental health. Writing them down and reflecting on them, especially when at a low point helps me remember all of the good and helps me put things into perspective.
